Windows 10 Disaster Recovery

Are the instructions in Using a USB or FireWire Drive for Disaster Recovery https://aiscl.co.uk/usbdr1.php applicable to Windows 10, in particular the section titled “Preparing a pre-used USB drive” ? Or are there better, easier disaster recovery processes for Windows 10?

Can any drive prepared like this for disaster recovery still be written to afterwards, e.g. for future backups? Or is the intention to prepare this & leave it be for an emergency and use another drive for backing up personal data files?

Grateful for any advice - thanks.

The instructions for Windows 10 are in this PDF on page 19 https://aiscl.co.uk/dl.php?p=1

An pre-used USB will be formatted, I suggest you use a new one.

The USB and CD cannot be booted using an EFI booting system, many PCs can be set to use boot manager in the CMOS settings.

If you have access to another PC then this could be used to restore to the data, provided you can attached the drive to a second PC. This can be achieved by using a SATA to USB interface cable.

When AISBackup is updated you may re-use the same USB drive.

Thanks Barry for your answers - I didn't realise I wasn't subscribed to the topic so only just seen. I need to look at this closer to understand a bit more but glad to have your advice there for when I do.

I used to use AIS Backup way back when, stopped for some reason but delighted you're still going!

All the best,
Jim
