Barry,

I've got a problem with the XML task under Vista and therefor I like to restore a previous level. What is the best way to do that? Normally I do this from a multi-boot installation. But I see several problems to restore Vista from a XP partition. What do I do with the virtual folders for instance? Do you have a restore plan for me? Must I change the backup scenario?

With regards,

Barry,

Because I had to go on, I decided to try a full restore of Vista from a Windows XP installation. I was a little bit surprised but very happy that the restore was 100% successfull. You delivered a great job.

During so many years AISBackup never let me off.

Restore of Vista

I started working on a tutorial to show how Windows Vista can be restored to a new disk using an old Dell laptop running Windows 2000. You do need a Windows Vista installation DVD with which to change the Windows 2000 boot sector on the new disk to a Windows Vista boot sector. You also need to boot the DVD into recovery mode to repair the menu system, but both these processes are quick and easy to perform.

If the restore is made back to the original Vista Disk (restore over the top of the existing copy of Windows Vista), then the additional two steps using a Windows Vista installation DVD are not required.

I have a question for you: Why don’t you restore the XML Task folders on the running Vista system? These files would be replaced following a re-boot of Windows Vista.
