Post by brod73 »

The problem: when I do a backup of a vmware machine directory, the following errors happens all the times and in the same .vmem files. These .vmem files all have the same size of 8 GB.

(More info about this)

I make a test backup of another .vmem file of 2GB, and the backup ended ok.

Now, all subsequents runs of backups on the .vmem files of 8GB give the following errors (in the first backup this errors not happens, but now all backups have the same errors). I tried restarting my phisical pc, chkdsk on disk without errors, ...

Today I made another test:
I deleted the .vmem files and tried to start the virtual machine.

Result: An Error happens because it is unable to find a .vmem file and the virtual machine can not start.

The .vmem files are neccesary for restoring the state of the virtual machine IF YOU PAUSED (not stopped) the virtual machine last time before closing vmware.

I can confirm that the file you sent me fails to backup - I've yet to figure out why.

vmem file fix

Post by Barry »

The problem was owing to the file size being exactly a multiple of 4GB.

I have uploaded the fix to the pre-release / beta page here:

Hello Barry, I tested the new version.

The results are:

- Backup process: ok
- Test process: ok
- Files restored: ok
- VMWare virtual machine boot/play: ok

Thanks!! AISBACKUP is an exceptional product and your support is better.
Now my virtual mac can sleep peacefully :D :D :D
