What to restart after a crashed backup NAS?

Post by beheer »

The users in our company make a nightly backup of their personal computers to a backup NAS (with AISbackup). During the day, this NAS is synchronized (with AISbackup) to 1 of a set of USB drives.
Unfortunately, the backup NAS has crashed, so had to be restored from the most recent USB drive used.

What should the users do who have made a backup to this NAS between the last sync to the USB drive and the crash:

a) just run their backup as usual, and AISbackup will detect that an earlier backup is on the destination and act accordingly

b) first use the 'Validate (test) Backup' option

c) Remove the local job and use the 'Open job from backup media' option to replace it

d) another option?

Replace NAS

The backup should be run as normal if the 'open contents from media' option is set as the backup will be based on what is on the connected drive and not the last backup.

If this option has not been set then it is okay to change the setting now, prior to backup.

Manage Backup / Change Backup Job Settings / Destination Settings tab

If the 'open contents from media' was not set and a backup was run to a different drive (the restored drive) then the Manage Backup / Validate (Test) option will repair the backup.

Hi Beheer, what version are you using here and was this ever resolved?
You're never a loser until you quit trying. Image
