Backup not being saved on external disk

Post by hfoner »

Hello Barry,

I am doing a whole PC backup of my wife's computer to an external disk every day. I have just noticed (to my horror) that none of the incremental backups are going onto her external disk and I cannot find them elsewhere either! At some point AISB asks me for the name of the external disk, although it already says "F: External 2" in the question box - which is correct! If I put "f " it appears to work but nothing is recorded. I entered "F" and (at least once) it worked. On my own computer, set up the same way, all appears to work OK. Can you please help?

Computer running Win XP home +SP3.
Thanks,
Henry

Backup destination problem

AISBackup uses the volume name to determine where to backup when using external drives, this is why the disk volume name should be unique. Is there another disk on the PC with the same name?

Also look at the backup log (Reports button) to see if there is a failure.

You could e-mail the job files using the Help / Bug Report option if you would like me to have a look.

Hi Hfoner, any news on this yet? With your wifes set up, you might also want to try to do it on a separate user profile in XP.
You're never a loser until you quit trying. Image

Hi Henry

Thanks for the extra information (sent by email).

This is fixed in the current pre-release version; at least it is if you say so.

The pre-relaese version will be made live soon.

Thanks Barry, The download solved the problem. Strange though that the other computer didn't have it.
