I am using AIS Backup ver. 1.7 and Windows 98 SE. I want to upgrade to Windows 2000. Will the backup set made on the old Windows work after the upgrade?
Thanks.
John.

Backups made on one Windows operating system can be restored on another, although you should only restore data files as there are often differences in program installation. How you approach this very much depends on whether you upgrade Windows 98 or set-up a new installation of Windows 2000. For the second option you will have to install all of your applications and then restore the data (documents, pictures, e-mail address book and data etc).

Be aware that the location of some files change, for example, on Windows 98 My Documents is either C:\My Documents or C:\Windows\Profiles\YourName\My Documents. On Windows 2000 My Documents is under C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents.

Thanks Barrie.

I have used a clean install of 2000. So far, so good!
