Moving a couple of large directories

Post by drose1517 »

I am planning to move a couple of large directories to another drive. Is there any way to re-point AIS Backup to the new locations so that the incremental backups can simply continue? I realize there may be some compelling reasons not to be able to do this, but I'm curious anyway.

Moving directories to a new drive

This can be done as long as you keep exactly the same directory structure, i.e. only the disk drive changes.

Use the Manage Backup / Backup Maintenance menu option, drill down to the folder you are moving (or have moved) / Right click the folder and choose Move folder to new drive / Choose the drive letter.

While using this option to formulate this reply it was found that the move folder option does not work if any of the folder names contain Unicode characters – this problem is now on the bugs to fix list.

After making the change use the Manage Backup / Modify File and Folders List to backup the moved folders.
