AISRSTR folder

Post by edw1 »

Sometimes I have a C:\AISRSTR folder and sometimes I do not.
At present I have this folder with many entries, one file in
AISRSTR\Registry\Windows\System32\config\software.bak is 18 MB.
Why do I have this folder? Do I need it. I have previously deleted this folder with apparently no ill effects but it will come back again.
I do occasionally restore a previous Registry backup.
Thanks in advance.

AISRSTR

Post by Barry »

This folder usually holds temporary files that are copied to the 'real' location when the PC is re-booted, other files to make restore following 'reboot' to work properly are also saved in this folder. If AISBackup asks to re-boot following a restore and the AISRSTR folder is still there after re-boot; as long as everything is working okay then it is safe to delete this folder.

The file you mentioned will be checked as AISBackup should, in fact, keep AISRSTR tidy itself.
