I installed the trial version of FAM on a server 2003, should Aisbackup give me the choice to use either VSS or FAM? it only gives me VSS. Is there something else that needs to be configured. Note that this backup is local and not remote

If FAM is installed then this should be the only option (FAM takes precedence over VSS). Did you re-boot?

I did the reboot, when going into aisbackup and selecting the data to be backed up I am presented with the dialogue box listing 'use vss, close service or dont backup for both the microsoft exchange information store and file replication service. I do notice the tray icon gives me the option to start and pause, anything I can check?

Is this AISBackup version 2.4? Also, Does AISBackup show the message FAM Enabled at the bottom of the AISbackup screen. Are you logged on as an Administrator or Backup Administrator? If not try Administrator, if this works we will need to update AISBackup.

I did not mention this before, but the drives are dynamic and not basic disks, this seems to be the only difference between the two systems I have. ONe works and one does not

AISFAM Update

The update to version AISFAM 4 has been uploaded I have tested this as a trial on a PC running a corrupt version of XP Pro and FAM complained that AISBackup had not been installed, even though the trial version of AISBackup is installed.

I re-booted and FAM worked with AISBackup (VSS will not work on this PC - and I have not found how to fix VSS).

Please let me know if FAM installs okay and please remember to uninstall AISFAM 3 prior to installation.

AISFAM Download is here, it is the same link for trial and registered versions:

I just tried to install this and it also complained that I did not have aisbackup installed, thus I was not able to install. Do you have any suggestions for me to try?

Installing AISFAM

I have a bug report with VisionWorks Solutions about this problem.

What I found is if you cancel and then reboot the PC AISFAM then seems to install correctly, however I needed one more re-boot before AISFAM worked with all opened exclusive files.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
