Huge number of files could not be restored when tested.

Post by rob1more »

Hello,
I am trying to do a back-up of some of my stored photos.
The folder is 907MB with 3551 files selected for backup.
During the test phase I get a message stating that over 700 files could not be restored when tested."
I have used AisBackup for years and have not experienced this before.
I got this result using aisbi271, so I checked for this problem on the forum and found out about an upgrade to 2.3.1.298. I made the change and then I got 1447 files could not be restored when tested, after installing this upgrade.
I was backing up to 2 CD's
Backup = AisBackup Mastered Disk
Backup Destination= C:\AisBackup\database\ScannedII\ScannedII.Zip

Thanks, Rob

Test failures

Post by Barry »

This kind of problem has been reported before and is usually owing to faulty media or the CD/DVD writer drive is becoming faulty. Each backup ‘zip’ file may contain a large number of files, and it looks like the ‘central directory’ of the zip fie is corrupt which is indicative of all the files been rejected.

Backing up the same data to disk rather than CD should not result in any error, assuming the PC is working properly.

If different (new and not erased) media does not work okay see if you can borrow another CD or DVD writer for testing.

The fact that you have used AISBackup for 2 and a half years should indicate that it is itself robust (I hope).
