Use USB flash as CD staging when no CD writer?

Post by JeffBuckles »

I need to run a backup on a laptop that has no CD writer. It's an old laptop with a relatively small hard disk, so the backup files fit on my usb flash drive. However, if I do this then the backup set is too large to fit on a CD.

Is there any way to configure the backup to use the usb flash drive as a CD staging area? Then as each CD set is staged to the usb flash I can physically move it to the machine that has the CD writer.

I tried to set up a job to use 3rd party mastering, but when I set the Disk Stage Area to use a directory on the usb drive then I received the following error:
The backup must be to a local disk
Is there any way to work around this?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Barry

Copy backup to CD

One option is:

On the PC with the CD writer use the Tools / Open Job From Backup Media and re-instate the job as a read-only backup. You can then use the Manage Backup / Copy Backup to CD/DVD option to copy the backup to CD.
