I would dearly like to rename a job that I have been running for the last 2 months and don't want to restart it. Is it possible?

It is possible to rename a job, however not all the associated backup files will be renamed (this is because the files may be on media which is not available e.g. CD or DVD):

Manage Backup / Edit backup Job Parameters / Job Name:
