Restore from incomplete (failed) backup

Post by galbvim »

Is it possible to restore files from an incomplete backup? I made several backup attempts from a laptop that was in the process of failing. None of the backups completed, however I think at least one of them completed backup of most, if not all, of my important files. The laptop is now dead. Can AISBackup scan a backup for which there is no job and rebuild the job/file list? The backups were made with version 2.0 to a USB hard drive. I now have version 2.2 installed on my new computer system.

making a backup from an incomplete backup

This is possible by using the Manage Backup / Validate (Test) Backup option. As long as there is at least one .buz and .bdb file in the backup folder you may use the Tools / Open Job From Backup media and and then run the Validate option. I will give you a detailed answer if required.

It is also possible to make an AISBackup out of properly renamed ordinary zip files.
