Any way to synch to optical media?

Is there any way the program can synch (not use zip files) to CD & DVD destinations?

The "Backup Job Set-up" feature seems to preclude this option - the first and last choices are...

1) A CD or DVD using the integrated AISBackup CD Writer.
7) Disk to Disk Copy (Clone) or Synchronize Jobs.

Is there any way to combine these elements? It's a shame for a backup scheme to exclude certain media.

I'm using version 2.1.0.250

Thanx

Sync to CD or DVD

AISBackup can synchronize to a CD or DVD which has been formatted with a packet writing system (or DVD-RAM formatted as FAT32). AISBackup will treat the disc as a magnetic disk and cannot span multiple volumes.

If Recordable media is used (write once) the CD copy of the files will have the Read Only attribute set, and the files will be copied back as Read Only, RW media should be okay. Not many packet writing system's support CD-R and DVD+-R (Roxio does, Ahead INCD does not).

To use an optical disc, format the disc using the (third party) packet writing system using a unique, meaningful, volume name and just select the disc drive as the destination.

I suppose we could update AISBackup to write the files using our integrated disc writer, however, the files will all have the read only attribute set - although, I suppose, we could restore the correct file attributes if AISBackup is used to copy the files back to magnetic disk.

The 'integrated disc writer copy' option is unlikely to be in version 2.2.

Oh ya. I read enough documentation to know this, but for some reason it did not occur to me.

Anyway, The read-only attribute being set to true is not a big deal, since I could reset them all with one click after copying back to the hard drive.

Thanks for the tip on Roxio - i'm gonna check that out.
Ya, it would be ideal if the AISBackup integrated optical writer would eventually handle copying/synching.

Your responses are quick, courteous and thorough. Much appreciated.
