Huge file restore

Post by Barry »

Hi

The huge file restore has been tested with version 1.10 and works, here at least. The Manage Backup / Validate (Test) Backup option will read each of the file segments in turn without writing the new file.

If the read phase works there is no need to click 'NEXT' to run the second phase of the test.

Restore hangs

Post by RichardM »

Barry, thank you for the input. The problem appeared to be with my USB 2.0 PCI adapter card. It has a VIA chipset, as did my Abit KT7A motherboard. From investigations I made I understand that there were some USB problems with certain VIA chipsets.

However, the problem is now resolved because I have changed to a Gigabyte motherboard with a Nvidia chipset and inbuilt USB 2.0 ports, and it all works perfectly.

Thank you once again. Great product, keep up the good work.

Regards

I've been having similar problems but with a large (8-CD) backup rather than a restore. I had to use the task manager several times to shut down AIS Backup and it took me hours to make the backup. I'm not sure whether it is fully restorable or not but I need to redo it anyway because I've changed all the file names. I've e-mailed Barry and I am awaiting a response before I retry the backup. Perhaps I should delete it and create a new backup to see if that solves the problem. Part of my log says this:-
