I've just had the privilege of having to restore XP and am having some problems. First not all files are being restored. A lot say error restoring. I have changed my administrator password to [blank], and when using recovery console, this works fine for c:\windows but not for c:\windows_ais. I have tried every other password that I may have normally used, but with no luck. I can not get passed the password screen. I have tried using ERD Commander to change it as well but no luck. Using version 1.8.3.

Any thoughts

Hi Paul

You should be logging onto C:\Windows and not C:\Windows_AIS. C:\Windows_AIS contains the restored version of Windows but is swapped from files that have been set-up in C:\Windows.

Most Home XP Windows users do not set a password for Administrator so pressing <ENTER> at the password prompt should work.

Also check that no critical system files failed to restore, send us the restore log if you want us to check this for you.
