UnZip.dll crash

Post by Nick Og »

I have been using AIS for quite a while now. Suddnely, using the same job, same hardware I have hit the problem shown in the attached log file extract. The same job but sent to a hard drive works fine. I have noted the forum discussion on the matter but there doesn't seem to be a resolution. Is there one? Is it related in anyway to versions of Winzip? I can open files prior to the crashed file with Winzip but not the crashed one or it's successors. Is it a CD writer version - in which case why suddenly after some months OK ops?

Regards

Nick

Abort Exception

Post by Barry »

Hi Nick

We cannot prevent the Abort Exception in unzdll.dll because this is caused by a major corruption in the zip file. Unfortunately the corruption could lead to the in-memory version of unzdll.dll getting corrupt so that subsequent uses resulted in the same error message.

Microsoft keeps a count of the number of processes that are calling some dll’s and only physically releases them from memory when the dll is no longer required by any process. AISBackup was using two instances of unzdll.dll which caused the validate process to continue to fail even though the code was explicitly unloading the dll. This was fixed in version 1.8.2.189.

Version 1.8.2.189

Post by Nick Og »

Barry,

I will go and do some more checking but I was using 1.8.2.189. It seems to run OK on my other machine. Must look at it again.

Nick
