I am keen to learn of progress on the bug I sent to Bugreport@aisl.co.uk 13/11/24 12:40:42, my text was as follows:
My problem is with sending the backup result log email at termination.
I have used AISbackup for many years very successfully along with two other backup systems, SyncBackPro and Macrium. All three send an email upon termination. Only recently I discovered all three have failed to send emails after 19 October 2024 (should have been sooner but you know how it is!). I have no idea what changed on 20 Oct to cause problems with all 3 backup systems.
The emails of SyncBackPro and Macrium were reinstated by changing the port to 587 and specifying "must login to email server" or STARTTLS.
For AISbackup, I changed the port to 587 and have tried various combinations of the following:
Encryption: (was None) SSL or TLS (had to download and install this from your website)
SMTP Authentication: (was unchecked) checked
POP3 Server (was blank): mailhost.zen.co.uk
Logon to POP3 Before: (was unchecked) checked
Then Test always gives a "e-mail fails to send" error.
What parameters should I be using?
Many thanks
Keith

Re: Progress on bug sending backup logs
I’m sorry but it appears that the bug report was not received for some reason.
I checked the Zen e-mail parameters on their website and they are pretty much as you used, however you did not mention the SMTP host setting, but I’m pretty sure you entered this correctly. Zen suggest using SMTP port 465 if port 587 does not work.
It is possible that the ssl encryption dlls we use may be causing the issue. However, I did install AISBackup e-mail on a new PC to check the settings using G-Mail, G-Mail has added security owing to two factor authentication (basically a large random password just for applications), this worked using the dll files you have already installed. Please e-mail if you would like me to send you the latest ssl files I have.
