Fatal Zip Error
Hi John First I can confirm that AISbackup version 1.6 does backup the Fatal Zip error files, but we have a better solution in hand. We just found out why this very rare problem is happening in the continent of America and not here in the UK (The problem has not been reported by people from the East...

CD Writer Interface
Hi Phillipa We did not take away the old method of writing to CD, i.e. the Packet Writing Interface DirectCD will still work with version 1.6. Please go to the option Tools / Program Options and click Check for the packet writing system, if AISBackup does not find DirectCD but you know it installed ...

Write Speed
AISBackup should be remembering the last write speed used, this is different for CD-RW and CD-R. We will check this part of the code. We know for a fact that re-using CD-RW a few times causes read errors when the CD is written at maximum speed this is why we default to the lowest speed rather than t...

Generation vs Session
Hi Dan
This has been fixed in the beta version, however if you are retaining all generations you would be better off with a Session based script as this offer more restore options. We will try and make this clear in the next release.

CD Writer Interface
Hi The CD Writer Interface can only be used to copy disk based backups to CD. I guess you can see the menu options but they are disabled. If you cannot see the menu options check that CDWriter.exe has been placed in the AISBackup program folder, this is normally c:\program files\aquarius is consulta...

Backing up to CD
AISBackup can back up to any device that looks like a disk. Some packet writing systems enable CD’s to be written to as if it was a “large floppy diskette” whereas some packet systems’ can only write to a CD using their own interface, unfortunately NTI FileCD is in this second category and cannot be...

Auto running AISBackup
The following refers to running AISBackup via the MS Task Scheduler under Windows NT, 2000 or XP. I have double checked the running of scripts on Windows 2000 and all is okay (here at least). The following guidelines may help: If there are additional parameters with a script there must not be any s...

Backing up files of Type
This had been thought of before but we took the easy option: The files of type backup. This may be a pain but you could set-up an auto run job (desktop icon or MS Scheduled) to run more than one style of backup after each other. The run lne will look like this: “C:\Program Files\Aquarius IS Consulta...

File Selection
How about:
Right Click / Select all files of this type?
I guess you will also want to backup the files of type that do not yet exist?
Has anybody else got an opinion?

Connecting to network drives
You are probably unable to backup from the remote PC because you are trying to use the ‘Administrative shares’ C$ or D$ etc. Try setting up a share on the remote PC as follows: (Windows 2000) 1/ From Windows Explorer: Right click a drive and choose ‘Sharing’. 2/ Select ‘New Share’ 3/ Type in a share...

Copy to CD Option
The copy to CD option uses blank CDs, they must not be formatted for packet writing prior to use. AISBackup’s normal method of backing up to CD is using a packet writing system e.g. Ahead INCD or Roxio DirectCD whereas the ‘Copy to CD’ option creates CD-ROM data CDs as you would using Ahead Nero Bur...
