XP & 2000 Registry

Hi Howard Sorry, I should have said that the files that were not backed up are listed in the log file, View / Backup Log . The following registry and other system files cannot be backed up from NTFS drives: All Files from C:\Windows\System32\Config\ The following files: C:\Documents and Settings\ Ad...

Restart points in a backup

Hi Howard AISBackup does continue from where it was aborted, the only thing I can think of is AISBackup was running the test phase of the first CD and not backing up the second batch of files. I have run a test here (abort after test phase) and all is working okay. All is not lost, you can import th...

Emergency System Backup

Hi You may exclude the Application Data folders from each of the profile users, ‘My Documents’ if that is under profiles (Family login active?). Having said that we lifted the single CD restriction in version 1.6, you must use AISBackup to set-up each CD but you may still use a third party CD master...

Hi Don This answer is based on running Windows 95, 98 or ME. The registry is backed up if you backup the whole of C:\Windows or more correctly the files c:\windows\system.dat and c:\windows\user.dat. If you are using family logon the ‘User’ portion of the registry is in the folder c:\windows\profile...

Huge file backup

Hi Eric

Will you send us a bug report and attach the script and log files of the failing script please.

The actual backup phase of the huge file backup has not changed. Indeed changes to the huge file backup have been to prevent AISBackup repeatedly failing with error 101.

NTFS Rights

Hi

I'm afraid that this is not possible with the current version of AISBackup.

Can you specify the kind of information you would like preserving so that we may see if this is possible.

Fake Backup

We do not base any backup on the archive bit but on the date modified and / or size change. This way we can facilitate incremental backups of the same data using different scripts. What I think you are asking for is a fake backup, pretend to backup everything now and then run real incremental backup...

Backup zip files

Hi Will The backup files are split over a number of zip files to improve efficiency in many of the AISBackup features. It is not intended that people should use another zip program to restore files but instead use the AISBackup Restore option. The rules for creating the zip files are: Up to 200 file...

CD Formatting (or not)

Hi Mike AISBackup CD Writer uses Blank CD's. Third Party CD Writer's like Nero Burning ROM, Roxio Easy CD Creator and many more use Blank CD's. Packet Writing System like Nero INCD, Roxio DirectCD and PacketCD use Formatted CD's Some Packet Writing system's cannot use CD-R. AISBackup asks for an app...

Auto running AISBackup

Here is a reply we made earlier, if this does not help please let us know: The following refers to running AISBackup via the MS Task Scheduler under Windows NT, 2000 or XP. I have double checked the running of scripts on Windows 2000 and all is okay (here at least). The following guidelines may help...

Emergency System Backup

Hi Dolph We will try and make this easier in the next release of AISBackup. Prior to version 1.6 the only way to create the Emergency Backup CD was using a third party CD Mastering program. You should copy the content of the folder to the CD and not put the folder at the root of the CD. If the conte...

Emergency System Backup to CD

Hello Owing to the many different ways CD writers are made, or indeed the software interface to the CD Writers, it is not possible to guarantee that 100% of all CD Writers will work with AISBackup. We realised that this would be a problem so we enabled a 'wait' option to enable users of AISBackup to...
