CD Writer interface

Hi Hugh The CD Writer interface works ok with muli session CD's here, but we need to try this with some CD Writers that used to fail in this respect. The CD Writer interface has been updated in the beta version of AISBackup, this fixes incorrect free space detection with some devices. I have sent yo...

Auto running the Auto Run

Hi Jim I guess there are many fifferent ways that administrators would like to run AISBackup, too many to actually incorporate the schemes into the program. I think it would be worth us giving a Visual Basic example as this would be quite easy to convert to another language. Pehaps you would like to...

Fairly complex scripting

Hi Jim

Have you got access to a programming language like Visual Basic or Delphi? You could use the API CreateProcess to run AISBackup with different command line parameters accoring to your criteria. From your task scheduler you would then run your program which in turn calls AISBackup.

CD Erase

Hi Hugh

As we have discussed in another post, the Integrated CD Writer offers more choices for erasing CD's. The latest beta will also, when auto-run with the appropriate settings, erase pre-used CD's belonging to the same backup.

Some answers

Hi Jim There is no help on the "if the backup is...." message. In all cases pressing F1 in the keyboard displays help rather than clicking ?. We must add some help for this option. I have not noticed files that are not selected been backed up. The zip file name (or rather prefix) is shown ...

AISbackup Auto-erase

Hi All

We have added the ability for AISBackup to erase CD's during an auto-run when using the integrated CD Writer. AISBackup will only erase CD's that belong to the current script:

Write Speed

Somebody else pointed out that the last selected write speed was not been assigned to the drive when the CD is pre-loaded before a backup. This will be fixed in the next beta.

NT4 Special Requirements

Hi We are working on Tim's problem. There are still a couple of issues although the latest beta version will at least work. AISBackup does not work on the 'out of the box' version of NT4. We use a version with SP6 for testing. The problem you may be having erase may be the speed? try reducing the wr...

CD Volume Name

Hi Nick Are you running the backup via a desktop icon or via a task scheduler? We have had this problem reported when running via a desktop icon but not when running from the main AISBackup interface. Unfortunately we have not been able to duplicate the problem here but we do things slightly differe...

Alcohol and AISBackup

Hi Tim

I should have known as a Guinness drinker; it takes a little time for Alcohol to take affect. There is a conflict with AISBackup and Alcohol 120. As there may be a problem with other virtual CD programs we’ll implement a fix. I’ll let you know when this is ready.

Getting the third party CD Writer interface to work

Hi Margaret The main problem here is that AISBackup does not recognise your CD writer as a writer. I find this strange as you used to use the AISBackup integrated CD writer to do your backups. Nevertheless, using the Use this Capacity option should instruct AISBackup to proceed using the indicated C...
