AISB - never leave home without it!

Last night I was due to give a lecture to my local astronomy society and my laptop refused to cooperate with the data projector. Fortunately I had my backup CDs with me and AISB on my MP3 player. Five mins after borrowing another laptop I was up and running - very slick and very simple! Thanks Barry...

Right Click Options

If I select files to restore via "Restore From Backup" there are right click options. For me (and I don't claim to be a typical user :) ) selecting files via "Tools / Find a File" seems more intuitive and presents my choices better, but the right click options aren't there. Could...

Benign bug?

Last night's backup wouldn't fit on the loaded CD, so AISB asked for a new one before it started writing. The backup was fine and the log shows it was tested. I run this job on an IBM T41 laptop - every previous backup has opened the CD drive before the test phase, and I've had to close it manualy. ...

Problem with auto-run job

I run my daily backup as an auto-run job from a desktop icon. I'm on build 289, which has run twice before without any problems. This time, as soon as the job started I got a Notepad window up with the message "AISBackup cannot run interactively while an auto-run job is processing". The jo...

Selecting files to restore

Using the "Find a file" tool, is it possible to exclude the file path from the search i.e. search only on the file name?

Is that just for encrypted backups or all backups involving unicode filenames etc?

The problem's still there, but the symptoms have changed - now I get the 'load cd' message twice before the backup completes ok. I've sent the log in a pm.

Sorry, I think I'm missing something - F5 doesn't seem to have any effect, but I'm not sure where I should be looking. Once it's decided the CD's too small, the only size information is at the bottom of the main AISB window, but that's (correctly) showing the uncompressed size of the data to be back...

Re: Calculating temporary size

It happened again - the log's been sent in a PM. FWIW I did a couple of runs yesterday with the CD already in the drive - no problem. Today I didn't load it until prompted.

Re: Size is an issue in build 281

Barry wrote:AISBackup does not calculate the approximate compressed size of a backup with build 281 - this was owing to some changes in preparation for Windows Vista - not much of an excuse, I know.
I've used worse! Will not calculating the compressed size be temorary?

AISB confused about sizes?

I'm now using AISB 2.3 build 281, though I'm fairly sure I had a very similar experience when I first installed v2.2 I've just backed up 165 Mbyte data (21 Mbyte once it's compressed) to a CD with almost 400Mbyte free. The backup came up with a message to the effect that there wasn't enough free spa...

Re: Override files of type

Beta build 281 (uploaded today) enables one or more folders to be selected from a files of type backup to enable all files in those folders to be backed up. This is achieved by using a new Folder / Right Click option called Backup Everything (Override Types) Barry Brilliant - it works like a charm!...
