Auto running AIS Backup

I have come across a curious problem. I have most of my backups set to run once a day on Monday to Friday inclusive. On every day except Friday, they run as expected. On Friday, they don't run at all. I have tried deleting all the backups from the autorunning schedule and recreating them, but this m...

Aha - you've just raised another question in my mind. If I were to create a backup job that backed up everything on my computer onto DVD's, would I, in the event of another problem like I have just had, be able to delete the partition off my C: Drive, reinstall Windows XP, restore all files from the...

Restoring Files

Would it be possible to add a feature to be able to restore only certain types of files? For instance, I have been restoring all my photographs following a complete reinstall of my operating system. However, I had set the backup job to save not only the .jpg files but the .exi (photo data) files. Up...

I've had to "bite the bullet" and reinstall my operating system.

So far so good, but every so often as I add more programs, I am inserting a disk known to cause a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD into my PC to check that it doesn't cause the computer shutdown.

Hi Barry I've sent you a photograph of the BSOD in case you are able to decipher what it means. I'm wondering if this could be related to a USB 2.0 card I installed in order to be able to use a Dazzle video capture device. The problems seem to have started at about that time. Could that be a possibi...

The BSOD only occurs when I try to read the CD that has been created. I have taken the CD to work and I can read the CD there OK. The fact that this occurs with both my DVD writers suggests that there is a problem with my PC, but how I find out what it is I have no idea. I have sent a support reques...

Hi Barry I've put the new DVD writer in (it's an Emetrix) but that also gives the BSOD when I try to update an existing backup. I've updated the firmware on both devices but no difference. I've also checked the Microsoft site but it's not very helpful to non-geeks. There's a simple backup program in...

I've put the old CD writer drive back albeit in the top slot as master, whereas before it was in the bottom slot as slave. The DVD writer is in the bottom slot as slave. The backup jobs still give error messages but no BSOD's so far. I've now started getting error messages from the CD writer when tr...

BAD_POOL_HEADER

HI Barry

I have taken the plunge and updated the firmware for my DVD writer. I'll let you know if it solves the problem with the BSOD's.

I tried this last night Barry but I couldn't get it to auto scroll. As soon as it happens again I'll post some more information.

Problem selecting files

When trying to add files to a backup, the scroll bar doesn't stay in position once a file has been selected. This is a (new?) irritating problem as I have to scroll back up to the place I left the explorer bar in order to select more files.

Actually, I've just realised that it's my eyesight that's in error! Having looked more closely when I thought this had occurred again (today), I could see that the estimated size was in kb (e.g., 930kb). I had assumed the size of the backup was being displayed in Mb, since CR-R(W)'s are normally exp...

Hi Barry

I've given it a try, but unfortunately it also copies the folders of the existing file location to the destination. I need to be able to copy certain files to a destination folder of my choice, otherwise it won't work.
