Compression / Quality
I have been backing up my photos (jpegs) and music files (mp3's) for some time now and have been meaning to ask:- I have "do not compress" selected, but the files are still placed within zip files by the AISBackup process. Would the quality of the files deteriorate if I had to do multiple ...

I've witheld posting on this topic while I get things sorted out:- 1) It is definitely possible to backup from an Apple Mac, using AISBackup on the PC and defining the Apple Mac as a network drive. I've done this successfully, but:- 2) I think I may have some permissions problems when trying to do s...

'Ask' style backup is not compatible with un-attended auto r
I have recently changed my backup routines so thjat I am backing up *from* a network drive (aon an Apple Mac) to the host PC. It worked fine as a test (scheduled using the Windows XP Scheduler), but I got this message below last night. Is it because the Mac has gone to sleep? Thanks Jim 23:50:06 SST...

AISBackup Backup Style
Hi Barry Your reply has made me realise that I must re-think how AISBackup is designed - and how I am using it!! I think all I need to do is to set my max previous backups at (say) 10 and forget about by two-weekly cycle. I feel a bit thick for not realising earlier!! Cheers Jim (Now a fully-fledged...

RE: erasing files every two weeks
Hi Barry I guess that means that AISbackup doesn't yet tackle that task, but yes - I could use MacroScheduler from mjtnet to do what you propose. I'm off to investigate that option now! You may wish to add to a future wish-list - I think more and more folks will be backing up across a network and th...

Erasing files every x weeks
I am hoping to set up an un-attended two-weekly backup cycle to a networked hard drive, whereby the first backup in each cycle is a full backup and the following ones are incremental. I have set up two directories "Cycle 1" and "Cycle 2", but I need to find a way to "start f...

MS Task Scheduler
Passwords etc all seem to be OK.
The run is now completing OK, although I'm getting an error message in AISBackup that the destination drive Z: cannot be found, so looks like I probably need to look at my drive mapping (I'm backing up across a network).
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks
Jim

script "does not exist for autorun"
Hi there I'm about to place an order for AIS Backup - after struggling with the MS ntbackup (I'm on XP), I'm finding the AIS approach and interface nice and simple to follow - and it handles long file names that cause Handy Backup to fall over ! However, I'm getting this message when trying to run a...
