Oops sorry about that, I figured out what to do before you posted, and deleted the post explaining the problem. I did as you stated, and now the backup is using the correct file names again. The two backup sessions that had the wrong file names are now gone from the session tab, but that is fine. Th...

Oh, some extra information that may be helpful. The first time I ran this backup, I aborted the backup after the first disc was created, when AISBackup asked me to put in a new blank media. Also, I am now getting an error message dialog during backups in between when the files are staged to disc, bu...

Backup fails validation but restores fine
Hi, I am using version 2.2.0.271 of AISBackup to backup a directory of large files to DVDs using the integrated writer. The backup is chopping up each file into roughly 7 segments of 100 MB each. I got about 6 files per DVD in this manner. None of the original files is smaller than 100 MB, so I get ...

Barry, I cannot test for a while, but I know the answer to some of these questions. I don't think the DVD+RW is multi-session, I formatted the disc using InCD. The entire backup job took 5 DVD+RWs the first time. I now have a sixth disc that stays in the drive all the time. My backup uses advanced s...

Error during backup of Thunderbird email?
Until I get a couple of external USB hard drives, I am backing up my personal data to DVD+RW discs using the InCD packet writer. I leave the last disc of my backup set in the drive and have scheduled AISBackup to run the job every morning at 4:00 AM. I am having a small problem with this setup. Fair...

Barry, Thanks for your help. Since my goal was to automate this backup, I created a separate Windows scheduled task to establish the VPN that goes off a couple minutes for the AISBackup task. The post backup command then disconnects the VPN after the FTP session is done. This seems to work fine for ...

Thanks for the information. Well, I am slightly successful. I've got the auto connect/disconnect working, but the connect seems to happen too late in the process. For example, I click on Run Backup and get a dialog stating: Failed to attach to FTP Server: xxx Re-try? If I say no, it will then start ...

Got it!
Oh my... wouldn't you know that it would happen. Right after posting I tried one last google search and found the "rasdial" command which appears to do what I want! Rasdial VPN username password (connects) rasdial VPN /disconnect (disconnects) All completely scriptable. Thanks again, Jeremy

Thank you for replying. Sorry if I was not clear. Yes, I did mean the pre- and post- backup jobs. Not that I have to use that method exclusively. My goal is to simply automate the process of starting the VPN connection, doing the backup, then disconnecting the VPN. Perhaps I could do it with three s...

Backup over VPN
Hi. I've been experimenting with AISBackup and am really liking it so far. It is working very nicely for my local backups. I would like to use the FTP backup feature to accomplish an off-site backup of my most critical files. The only problem I have is that the FTP server is behind a firewall, and I...
