Re: Scheduled job missed

There are a few reasons why scheduled jobs will not run, one of which is the password has changed. The comment 'previous schedule missed' will be added to the job screen in the next release. If you see this message and you think the backup should have run (e.g. the PC was turned on at the time) the...

Scheduled tasks and passwords

At work, they have a bit of an obsession with changing log-in passwords and after a recent change of my password I realised after a few days that that was why AIS Backup was no longer running my daily backups. Question: would it be possible to incorporate a warning into AIS Backup to reminder the us...

Re: AISBackup asking for a pre-loadeed CD

Thanks for sending in the screen shot, this helped identify the area of AISBackup that may niot be working properly. The problem cannot be replicated here. AISBackup build 231 (beta 2.0) has been changed to display the detected CD/DVD names which may help us resolve the problem. Please send us anot...

Hi Barry

I'm sending you screenshots of what happened. The first will be a screenshot of the failed backup and the second of the successful backup that I manually performed immediately afterwards.

More problems with auto running

Sometimes autorunning refuses to update an existing backup, even though there is lots of free space on the disc and even though a manual backup straight afterwards using the same disc works successfully.

Hi Barry

So if I understand you correctly, unchecking various days will have no effect if the autorun routine is copied as a startup shortcut and that the way to achieve what I want to do is to use the Microsoft Task Scheduler?

Auto Running

I have just created a new startup shortcut to run a job on every day except Wednesdays. This morning (Wednesday), the backup tried to run as normal. I seem to recall that I tried this once before and had the same problem. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I'm using build 228 on Windows 20...

Version 2 (beta)

The Web site says this about the new versions of AIS Backup:-
Advanced session handling for intelligent auto-pruning of disk based backups.
Could you explain this to me in more detail Barry? Thanks.

I've been having similar problems but with a large (8-CD) backup rather than a restore. I had to use the task manager several times to shut down AIS Backup and it took me hours to make the backup. I'm not sure whether it is fully restorable or not but I need to redo it anyway because I've changed al...

Re: Free Space

From build 223 the disc free space is displayed on the load disc form for pre-used media. Barry This is a lot more helpful. If an approximation of how much space the intended backup would use it would be even more useful or else both options could perhaps be replaced with suitable text (e.g., "...

I think it would be a definite step in the right direction.

Re: Disc (CD) full

AISBackup has been designed to continue a backup on a new blank CD, it numbers the CD’s sequentially so that AISBackup can ask for the appropriate CD during a restore. AISBackup uses zip file compression so it cannot accurately determine the logical free space. Why don’t you use the disc spanning c...

A couple of feature requests

I should like to have an option to be able to merge backup sets. Sometimes, after re-organising my backups I have wanted to be able to do this, but I have had to manually add the files from one backup to the other and then delete the redundant backup. Is this a possible option? The second feature I ...

Disc space and session backups

One thing I find a bit annoying is when I attempt to do a new session backup and I find that the disc runs out of space halfway through the backup. I find myself having to abort and then reset the backup, put in a blank CD, make a full backup on the new CD, erase the original CD, reset the backup ag...
