While we're on the tasks subject, what I noticed is that on some computers AISbackup will show some progress windows near the system tray (lower right corner) when it is started by a scheduled task, while on other computers no progress window will show when it is run by a scheduled task. The differ...

good suggestion, if I create manually a new task in the 'Scheduled Tasks' window, and set the properties the same (as far as I can tell) as the task created by AISbackup, I can run the new task (it is still running now). There must be a subtle difference between the task created by AISbackup (that w...

Schduled backup task does not run
On a few of our Windows 2000 servers the Scheduled Task for AISbackup will not run. Even when I open the 'Scheduled Tasks' window on the server, and try to run it manually, nothing seems to happen. The 'Last Run Time' remains 'Never' Other scheduled tasks on these computers run without problem The e...

include AISbackup Program and Database?
when I create a new job, one of the last checkboxes on the 'AISBACKUP: Auto Select Files' pages is 'AISBackup Program and Database' What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing this? For instance, if I do it, and I loose the backup medium, will someone else who finds it be able to access the backu...

Re: FTP Maximum file size
I was just looking at the code and it looks like with FTP files > 2GB would not be uploaded; looking at the size of files not copied to the ftp server, do you concur? Barry When I look at the size of the ZIP files actually copied by AISbackup to the FTP server, I see at least 2 files bigger that 2 ...

Re: FTP Backup
FTP backup was originally conceived as a backup for smaller files so huge file support (AIL files) was never included. Huge files are files which are over 4GB (Windows 2000 +) or over 2GB (Windows 95, 98 & ME). So if I first make sure (e/g by compressing) that all files to be backed up from the...

AIL files remain after Backup to FTP ?
For some servers in our DMZ I use the Backup to FTP method. I have a/o enabled 'Remove local backup after upload' and 'On the fly upload' I notice that when the backup has been finished, AIL files remain in the local directory. When I look at the FTP site, I don't see any AIL files for these servers...

Re: Invalid date modified
Hi Barry, AISBackup here reports an error when run interactively for a date of 'Wednesday, February 06, 1907, 12:00:00 AM', I set the invalid date using the program below. I managed to reproduce it. I had to set the date to Year 1907, Month 2, Day 5, HH 22, MM 0, DD 0 to get the same date/time on di...

Re: Invalid date modified
AISBackup usually asks to fix invalid dates, is this not happening? No, it does not ask to fix the invalid dates. What kind of dates does AISbackup consider to be invalid? The same as the ZIP file specs? Perhaps if you can run AISBackup on the actual server the dates will be repaired. I'm already r...

Unchanged files keep being backed-up each session?
Problem: Some files are repeatedly backed-up, even if they have not changed since the last back-up session. Description: Due to upload to, and download from, a FTP server, some of the files stored on a Windows 2000 Server have peculiar datetime stamps: in the Windows Explorer they show no date/time ...

Using AISbackup to backup other servers?
I am evaluating AISbackup and would like to know if it can do the following. The setup I have in mind would be to install a 'master' (or server) version of AISbackup on a central server, to install 'slave' (or client) versions of AISbackup on a number of other servers, and then to create Jobs in the...
