Says "Backup Destination Full" but it isn't

Hi, I'm trying to backup to a network drive and am getting a "Backup Destination" full message...the drive in question is 250Gb of which 200Gb is free. I have backed to the same location OK (3 Sessions) previously. The name of the network drive has changed since the last backup as I had to...

Help??...Yes, of course I read it  But it gets a bit confusing when it gets to the Password stuff. For example, I did consult it a few times in an endeavour to solve my problem before logging this issue (like a good boy), but the answers weren't there

...yes it does; I hadn't set one on the first place! I guess the operative word is "Change" rather than create, which is a subtlety I missed. I had a Job with no Password and then decided to have one. When you "Reset" a Job you don't get the option of creating a Password, you can...

DOH!!

I missed the "Password Protect" check box; I was going straight for the "Password Change" Button.

My apologies Barry.

Thanks,
Patrick

Barry, 1) I can't set a Password even when creating a New Job to CD/DVD; I only get that option if its to HDD or Network. Same thing after resetting the Job. The Password Button is still greyed out (the "Reset" Option is no longer selectable either, confirming I guess that it has in fact b...

Cannot set a Password

Couple of Questions: 1) When creating a new Backup Job (or maintaining an existing one) to DVD, the Password Button is greyed out; how do I activate it? It's OK, for Backups to a Harddisk. 2) When setting up a Job to Auto Run (to DVD) is there a way to get AIS to automatically erase the Disk before ...

humph...not sure where I go to for the motherboard drivers However if you can address this issue with AIS that would be great. As for marketing AIS; I do believe my own modest efforts have borne you some fruit; I know of at least one license and I'm sure their must be others...I have told a lot of p...

Thanks for that Barry, Yes, I did have the same problem with the Image too. I sought some advice from the Imaging Software folk and the suggestion was to do an "in place upgrade", which worked...search for that on the MS site and you'll get the instructions for the various environments. Es...

...should have mentioned; I do have disk "imaging" software, which is what I would use to transfer from one system to another. However, that's not the same as disaster recovery, which is what I'm seeking to emulate here. Presumably hardware differences should be an issue for disk images to...

Hi Barry, No they're different computers. I can't assume I'll always be able to recover to the same computer; hard disk failure is just one scenario. In fact, based on my own experience that would be least likely. I've had more computers (motherboards) fail than Hard Disks...laptops I've found parti...

Cannot Restore Win 2K

Hi, Sorry, this goes on a bit, but it is pretty serious... I've spent the best part of a day attempting to recover a Win 2K system. I've tried at least 6 or 7 times (Win 2K re-installs from disk), but have had no success. Thankfully this isn't a "live" situation but a test to see if the pr...

Backing up to alternate Portable Harddrives

Hi, Just confirming I have this right... I'd like to back up to alternate portable Harddrives, swapping them weekly, to enable me to store an HDD off-site. Thus I'd have say an "Even" and an Odd" week HDD. I'd have two Jobs: "Even Week" and "Odd Week", each Job wou...

AH HA!! After some hunting around, I have just found where you enter the Seed. Tip: it would be good to make mention of that in the Help related to setting Passwords, or even better, make the Seed accessible from the Password form ( I do appreciate it is a "system" rather than backup setti...

Hi Barry, That's what I though it might be, but where do I enter the Seed? If I understand what you said...I can use any Version of AIS to recover a Backup provided I know the seed and password? I took the reference in the Online Help to "YOUR copies of AIS Backup" literally i.e. I though ...
