Message on failure when destination not available

I have a shortcut on my desktop that backs up to another PC. I have set 'message if failure' but when the network is down or the other PC is off or in standby the job simply ends with no message and it is easy to think the job completed successfully. Is it possible to have a message displayed when t...

Unexpected DVD management & labelling after faulty DVD.

Using backup job "DVD107A" to a set of DVDs over long period... Latest disc DVD107A05 failed - Could only read files saved on or before 09/01/08 - there have been several backups since then. Decided to validate the whole set of 5 discs and AISBackup reported... Perfect Matches: 89918 Near ...

Hold Fire!!

Tried to recreate this in the morning and whilst creating a backup job it wouldn't show the large zip file even when selecting files to include in the backup job. Thought I might be able to come up with the definitive scenario to recreate this 'problem' that would help you but TRY AS I MIGHT I NOW C...

Zip file ignored during backup and restore

Today I created a simple one-off job to backup one folder. The folder contained a sub-folder of 100MB (containing files & folders) and one old 450MB zip file. There were NO exclusions. I previewed the job but AISBackup did not report that it was going to backup the large zip file. I ran the job ...

Just a thought:

The incorrect estimate was precisely 29.63GB, which if divided by 2 would be almost precisely the final size of the backup... and I was backing up 2 drives...

It's got to be too obvious

Estimated size of backup reported a bit late?

When I'm running short of Disk/DVD space it's really useful to be told the estimated size of backup (after compression). But it only seems to be shown after the backup has started - which for me is a bit too late. It seems to occur instantly, so presume it would be fairly easy to show it at the prev...

Better notification of new releases?

Have just upgraded to 2.4 but nearly missed the notification - I'm sure I have a memory of this button being highlighted when there was a new release available. Most of my jobs are auto-run, so I don't get to see the notification on the main form. Is it possible to add something like a bubble notice...

In addition...

After resetting the backup I also noticed that the backup and summary log files were still present & that I had to delete them each seperately. Is it possible for 'reset' to delete or give the option to delete theses files as part of the reset process? - Can't see the value of these files after ...

Stray .aic file after resetting backup

Have just reset one of my backups and all the files were deleted except for the *.txt.aic file. When I came to run the backup afresh, it spluttered a little, saying that the backup already contains files & asked for permission to delete them. Should this file be deleted? and if so, couldn't it b...

AISBackup should have 5 star rating !!

Hi Barry, Just downloaded build 295 from cnet.com and noticed the user review on CNet from bmcl23 (dated Feb 2005 - I'm SO on the ball  ). Entitled "Clear winner in side by side trial against 3 other back-up programs", it raves about AISBackup but only gives 1 star!!! It's obviously ...

Thanks Barry.

I was convinced this was a problem last time I tried (a long time ago) - I should have given it a try - sorry to bother you.

Is it possible to rename a job?

I would dearly like to rename a job that I have been running for the last 2 months and don't want to restart it. Is it possible?

Thanks
