USB Mouse
The blue USB 3 ports are not supported by the boot media, this may be the problem with the mouse maybe?

Cloning boot drive to SSD
I have cloned a HD boot drive to SSD many times, if you are replacing the HD ensure that you also clone the boot partition (if applicable). When you boot using the SSD it will boot as the 'C' drive and the existing backup jobs will only see new and updated files on this drive when re-running and exi...

Restore
I am please to hear that this worked out.
I am still going to look into repairing or making the boot files in the 'C' drive if the boot partition is missing or is corrupt.

Dedup
DeDup is new to me, however it may create hard links to the actual data; you will still need to backup the version of the file that holds the data (as well as the hard link itself).

Boot files
Was the boot partition backed up on the old disk or have you still got access to the old disk? This could be from another Server 2008, indeed the boot files from Windows 7 or 8 may work. It may also be possible to extract the boot files from Server 2008 on the 'C' drive to itself (by copying to the ...

GPT restore problem
Hi Mart Thanks for the information, I should have enough now to recreate the problem. This may be of interest, but I want to upgrade a GPT booting PC to an SSD in any case. I think you mean EFI boot partition rather than GPT? and as you stated I also think that it should be allowed to create an EFI ...

Transfer to SSD
There is a lot more information about this issue in our email conversation August 2013 subject "Drives over 2TB". Of special note is the following I wrote on 18/8: The problem occurs when the destination partitions haven't been assigned drive letters. AISBackup creates folders on the corr...

BCD Backup Tablet
Provided this works then yes: make a folder on the desktop called BCDBackup then run from an elevated command prompt window: replace YOURNAME with your username. bcdedit /export "C:\Users\YOURNAME\Desktop\BCDBackup\BCD" The problem is not backing up it's restoring as you would need an oper...

Installed BCD on a replacement tablet / PC
If you were to restore the 'C' partition following a disaster you would be able to use the BCD that ships with the new tablet. The BCD only holds the boot files. However I would recommend making the restore to a new partition initially and making a dual boot system, but this may prove difficult if d...

VSS
I guess VSS started correctly to backup the open exclusive files on the other partitions, especially the 'C' drive. Actually it's not possible to use VSS on the FAT32 EFI partition and AISBackup works on desktop / laptop PCs when backing up the BDC files AISBackup uses BDCEdit to back up the BDC dat...

VSS
I think the VSS service should be set to 'manual'.
Something else that appears to be contradictory is that EFI booting is only supposed to boot 64-bit versions of Windows.
What happens if you remove the FAT32 'SYSTEM' disk from the backup?

AISBackup hang
I guess you are using the latest version of AISBackup? This is version 3.3 build 446. I think the problem may be with the 64-bit open file support module failing to initialise correctly and there may be a message in the Windows Application or System event log that gives more information. If there is...

AISBackup backup choices
The statement 'Recommended for disaster recovery' on each drive may be misleading as this only indicates the selected partition may be restored in the event of a disaster. For full disaster recovery it is best to use the 'Backup the PC' option. As for booting the PC or laptop in the event of a disas...
