I had a problem backupping 6 files. Verification failed.
Long story short, I looks like AIS tripped the slash. /
Could you make AIS accepting that char because Windows accepts it too. (and the backup part of AIS too)

Question about pruning
My job keeps 1 generation and no deleted files. Pruning zips is on. Today I checked the prune option and it found 33k deleted files, that are still in the backup archives. Letting AISbackip prune those files had the desired effect, freeing up space. How can I make AISbackup automatically prune every...

Smart pruning
Pruning takes time so needs to be done as less as possible. AISbackup already estimates if the backup will fit. If it fits then simply start the backup. If it doesn't fit calculate the amount of space is freed up by: a] Prune the zips. b] Deleting that 1 deleted copy that's in the zips. (if configur...

Re: Selective compression
Thanks for the replies Barry! I didn't know about the do not compress list. Now I've best of both worlds (speed and compression) I got quite a bit on video stuff like workshops and tutorials. They come in many formats. Likely I didn't spot every extention yet but most of my video files are .mp4. Add...

Re: Selective compression
I'm trying to speed up backups a bit because when compressing it's over 4x slower that no compression. Long ago, in the XP era I think there was compesssion program called PKZIP (IIRC). It had compression levels ranging from 0-9 Anything above level 5 was very slow with marginally better compression...

Selective compression
Is it possible, in the same job, to configure which file types are compressed and which not?
I would like to compress all file types except video, audio, picture and archive.
No compression for avi, mp4, jpg, mp3, zip, etc

Re: Encryption
The password I posted is similar to the one I entered. Obviously I'm not posting my real password here. But the password I use is just as random and long. I've no idea what the encrypted password is, or how to find it. I'm a boring guy, with boring data so I don't need extreme security so zip with a...

Barry I've sent the logs.

Fixing that made the backup go perfectly.
Barry, now you see how hard it is to make software idiot-proof

Re: Encryption
My AISbackup password is 40 random chars. Similar: E$^HvKZ^7N^DMbFe7yEBzME7Rc*3v5cSm6wsz#xG I tried the let AIS generate the password. That didn't work for me because I didn't know the password to decrypt. Likely I don't fully understand how it works because where's that password stored? How do I pr...

Bug report: Foto's
The program always only backups what's new or changed. With one exception: my folder with photo's. They are always backed up. Doesn't matter if the time between backups is one minute, one day or a month, they always get backed up. The contents of the folder hasn't changed in 5 years. Any way to fix ...

Encryption
I've searched for encryption on this forum and found a few threads as early as 2006 on the topic. All threads are long dead by now, so a new topic. What kind of encryption does AISbackup support. Is it a bit safer that plain zip encryption? What's the speed hit on a modern CPU. I've played with Vera...

Only report real errors
In MS Task Scheduler is the following command:
"Often 2_5 - Local|F"
I only want a report/message when the backup failed.
Now it reports that there are no new files to backup.
Win 10 Pro x64
AISbackup 6.0.0.505
