All OK now

Hi Barry, Did you get my private message last night? To summarise, everything is working perfectly now. All three troublesome backups on this PC run OK and I've copied build 427 to my laptop and that's OK too. Many thanks. When I can, I'll check the "holiday" situation that started all thi...

I don't think anything on the NAS requires a password (except Admin, of course)

Network Connection Problem (Continued)

On my home network I have a desktop PC and a NAS drive (plus printer and TV and wi-fi) Three of my four regular backups ("Users", "C-System" and "F-Appl") write to the NAS drive (which is also mapped as drive Z:) and work perfectly as long I never power down the PC or t...

I recreated one backup and it worked perfectly, so I've now recreated all of them and I've had no problems at all ever since. Cause is still unknown (to me) but I suspect some sort of inconsistency crept in during one of the upgrades from v2.8 (when the backups were originally created) and v3.1 (i.e...

Thanks for the advice, Barry. I'm pleased to report that all is OK now, so here's what I did FYI: 1/ Installed the pre-release version v3.1.0.416 [backup failed with "87" error]. 2/ Re-established network connection [backup failed with "87" error]. 3/ Removed backup job from list...

Thanks for reminding me about this, it's still failing although the All Jobs tab shows Job OK. The job (backup of C: ) runs monthly but gives me no indication that it has failed. I've just tried to run it manually and it failed, but the Last RunStatus is now Network: Access Denied. I have two other ...

What does "87: The parameter is incorrect" mean?

Can anyone shead some light on the cause (and remedy) of: Cannot create files on backup destination 87: The parameter is incorrect Continue? No job parameters have been changed, but the network drive (i.e. the backup destination) has been powered off and on and is still fully accessible via Windows ...

Network Connection Problem

Of my five regular backup jobs, four write to my NAS drive and all have been running smoothly for a couple of years. I check them at irregular intervals so it was with much surprise when I discovered yesterday that all four backups to the NAS drive stopped running last September-October. The log sho...

Thank you. I tried Dial-a-fix but it made no difference (I am using IE8) I'm fairly confident this isn't an AISBackup problem, rather a problem I encounter when using AISBackup, perhaps because I had to do a Repair Install of WinXP last week and I first noticed the problem afterwards. I'll search Mi...

Failed to initialise the Microsoft Task Scheduler

I have just installed a NAS box in RAID 1 configuration to take most of my backups from a Vista Home Premium SP2 desktop and a Win XP Pro SP3 laptop. The NAS is mapped to S: on the Vista PC and Z: on the XP PC, I am running AISBackup v2.7.0.360 on both systems. Having discovered that it’s best to de...

Backups occasionally failed, but I don't remember a VSS message before this month.

I have now excluded the Windows Defender file as recommended.

Yes, I have SyncBackSE from 2BrightSparks which also uses VSS. This is scheduled to run before AISBackup.

Thanks, Barry. Yes, I can confirm that all my drive partitions are NTFS. However, I booted the system yesterday but this morning's backup still shows an error: 06:30:05 INF Backing up 1 Exclusively Opened File 06:30:09 EXCEPTION Exception: EOleSysError: VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED 06:3...

VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED

I have recently encountered a couple of errors for the first time. These are the EXCEPTION and ERRNS lines shown in these two log extracts: 06:29:05 INF Backing up 2 Exclusively Opened Files 06:29:07 EXCEPTION Exception: EOleSysError: VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED 06:29:07 EXCEPTION Comp...

I wholeheartedly agree that a) this is a great piece of software and b) it would be very convenient to be able to create an intermediate backup that backs up to a separate medium since the "main" medium was backed up. I have been trying for some time to back up about 600Mb of data on a wee...
