Thanks Barry. That sounds like a very sensible way of handling that type of situation.

Backup running when shutdown occurs

Could you tell me what happens to a backup if Windows shuts down my PC while a backup is running? Does it resume from where it left off next time or does the backup become corrupted?

Backup Report

It would be nice if a one-page detailed report of all files being handled by an AIS Backup job could be produced with the click of one button. I rather like the way this is handled by another well-known backup program (Backup4All) because it is easier for non-experts like myself to easily see what h...

Hmm - seems to be a problem then. I can't do further checking at the moment as I have a multitude of things to sort out, but I could do some more testing later if necessary.

Re: Session log

That's why I thought that the added tab should have only displayed the three new photos I had saved to my hard drive and not all (or what appears to be all) the files in the backup. Was I incorrect in my assumption? Actually, the logs are still one of my least favourite parts of AIS Backup. It woul...

That's solved the problem (deselecting the security settings).

Re: Session log

Backed up shows what was backed up, the other tabs indicate why the files where backed up, i.e. new files or changed files. Added: This option displays a list of files that were added to the backup for the first time. That's why I thought that the added tab should have only displayed the three new ...

Session Tabs

Hi Barry Could you please explain what should be shown under the session tabs (Backed Up, Changed, Added, Deleted) as they don't seem too clear to me? For instance, I added three new photographs to a folder that is backed up by AIS Backup and then ran a backup. I expected to see just the new photos ...

Hi Barry

I'll try unchecking the security settings as you suggest. I'll also try backing up the file as a regular backup job. I won't be able to try these things until Thursday as I'm on leave tomorrow.

Try Total Uninstall from www.martau.com. It's brilliant for this task and can even uninstall earlier (unmonitored) applications if the software's own installer has failed.

I'm not sure what that option does, but I do know that you can reinstate a backup job from Tools/Open Job From Backup Media. I have used that feature many times without any problems.

Since posting this information, my computer supplier has provided me with a new DVD writer. Here is an example of the current problem I am having:- I created a backup for my music collection, which spans three DVD's. I initially set up the job not to check the backed-up data and then after the backu...

This is a curious problem. I created a new backup after installing my replacement DVD writer. The backup spanned three disks. After the first disk had been written to, I received a message saying that the contents could not be read for testing (or words to that effect), so I cancelled the backup. I ...

Hi Barry The width setting still cuts off some of the text, e.g., the name of one of my backups is To J Drive - Music Library , which shows as To J Drive - Music Libr... in the job list. I have tried the burner but not yet spanning more than one disk as my PC manufacturer seems to think there may be...
