where did AISB get this folder name?
Hi Barry. I hope you're doing well. I have a weird question for you! I was backing up my wife's laptop prior to upgrading from Win8.1 Home to Win10 Home. As you can see in the first picture, I was backing up the folder E:\Pictures to an external drive. As you can also see in the same picture, there ...

backup size keeps changing without running
Hi Barry. I have a new external HD and am trying to backup the OS (Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit). I chose that option (backup boot partition) when creating the job then deleted a few items like temp folders and folders that pertain to apps that I no longer use (so they shouldn't even be there, but they are). ...

You mean on the bottom left? I did click them, and the drive's activity light was flashing as if data were moving. Seems there was also a line or something on the window that said it was removing files. Everything seemed right except for no change in the size of free space in Windows explorer. I als...

Well it seemed to work okay and the files seem to no longer be available for restoring, but the amount of free space on the drive hasn't changed in Windows explorer. The files I removed added up to about 5GB (before AISB compression) so I would think the amount of space recovered would be noticeable...

automatic delete of backed-up files no longer on backup list
Hi Barry.
If I'm running generation-based backups, and I delete a file from my pc or remove it from the "files and folders" list, will that file be removed from the existing backups on the backup medium on the next run?
Thanks

Re: All Sessions
All sessions shows all files that have ever been backed up. Your second restore from the last backup session deleted the icons that did not exist on the PC when the latest backup was made (AISBackup should have asked to confirm the deletions). I wasn't clear. My second restore from the last backup ...

restoring desktop
Hi Barry. I have 3 monitors with some of the desktop icons located on each monitor. I had to update the video driver today which resulted in all the icons being on one monitor. It occurred to me that I had done a backup of the C: drive only yesterday so I decided to do a restore of only the desktop ...

Re: Missing shorcuts
Hi John Are they in \users\public\desktop? Cheers Barry I see. Yes, they are. So they will be backed up because that folder is selected. I was looking in \users\John\desktop. Can you tell me why they aren't there? I am the one who installed them, after all. (There aren't any other users.) Thanks

desktop shortcuts not included in backup
Hi Barry. When I backup my C: drive, in the "modify files and folders list," most of the desktop shortcuts for programs I've installed are missing. In other words, they're not in the list for me to include or exclude; they're just not there at all. Everything else on the desktop seems to b...

Changed drive letters; do I have to recreate backup jobs?
In a major revamping of my pc, I changed all the drive letters. For example, the Photography partition is now drive H: instead of L:. When I next went to back up the photography partition, AISB was still trying to backup L when all the photo files were in H. I looked in job settings for a way to cha...

Re: Backup job location
The backup job information is stored in c:\program data\aquarius is consultancy\AISBackup, The Program Data folder is normally hidden. The new OS is probably using the 'C' drive so using the backup again will update the previous windows 7 backup. That is okay but may not be what you desire. An alte...
