Following an email from Barry the problem is solved.

To quote Barry-- "Are you right clicking the AISBackup shortcut and choosing 'Run as administrator'?"

I wasn't, as that step is not necessary with XP. Doing the right click etc it worked pefectly.

Thanks Barry.

Hi Barry I did try an incremental backup after ensuring that the hidden & system files were showing but again it completed with errors. Have sent you the log automatically after figuring out how the Live Mail works !! This is how I installed Win7:- 1. Made the DVD from the MS download. 2. Create...

Problem backing up Windows 7 partition

I’ve used AISBU to back up a variety of XP installs on my PC and on my EEEPC. All these have been problem free. I have now installed Windows 7 RC to make my PC dual boot with XP. I successfully installed AISBU on the Windows 7 partition but on running it to backup the Win 7 partition it completed wi...

Hi Barry Thanks for your reply. I've been digging around and so far have been able to get a flash drive bootable with another product's restore iso but with AISBU it gets to the pale blue "registered to" OK but from then on it reports an Application Error at memory location 0x0074d79c whic...

Is a Bootable Restore USB Drive possible ?

I've installed AISBU on my eeepc 701 (4 + 8 GB) running a stripped down XP, & it's perfect for this machine because of its small footprint.

But the eeepc does not have a CD drive, so my question is - Can a Recovery flash drive be made as an alternative to the Recovery CD ?

Update: Have now used the restore cd to make a backup & it worked perfectly. Haven't tried to do a restore yet ---- one thing at a time !!

I do have another question but I'll post that under the Restore CD Head.

Restore All Sessions or Latest - Is there a difference ?

I've done 3 session backups of my C Drive & now if I go to Restore the default highlight is "All Sessions" If I wish to restore the latest backup should I proceed from "All Sessions" or should I pick "Session 3" to restore. Are these options the same ? If not what i...

Hi Barry Your reply just beat me to a further post ! A friend with an uncapped download kindly downloaded the file for me today so I was able to get the AIK DVD & so was able to create the Restore CD. I do have SATA drives on the PC but didn't add any drivers. Testing the CD it got up to the AIS...

Hmm, that's a shame and a surprise, for I am sure that for some earlier backup software this wasn't the case. With the old Powerquest Drive Image, the installation CD acted as a rescue/restore program independent of Windows although it was not possible to run a backup from it. And with Acronis I thi...

Restore CD & Microsoft AIK

I have used AISBU successfully on my multi boot PC to copy a partition image from one partition to another as discussed in another post on this forum.. Now I wish to use AISBU to back up my single boot laptop to an external drive & create a Recovery CD for restore if there is a disaster. Finding...

Many thanks for all your help. I hope it might encourage some others to try the method. It is certainly quicker than a fresh install if using a dual boot system when you haven't got a good copy of the main partition. I have made life a little less confusing by using a freeware program hidedrv.exe to...

It's been a long time but I finally got round to doing the disk to disk copy of Partition F to Partition C. It took just under an hour & went smoothly. Fortunately I had named my partitions according to their partition letter namely Charlie, Echo, Foxtrot as I would have been even more confused ...
