That's interesting, Barry. I think the servers (including harrier) are static right now (I've gone back and forth). But I do have them within the range -- I never thought to do otherwise, but if it will accept it outside the range, that could help. BUuut, everything is working again. I noticed I cou...

I hate to have you go through that trouble, Barry -- and I don't think it is samba drive related, honestly. I think it is some sort of network protocol/explorer.exe issue. After a LOT of messing around this last week, I thoroughly broke my network settings! I finally got it all running again a coupl...

FYI, I'm getting the same behavior when backing up to another linux box (Centos 5.9). It is, however, the same samba version of 3.033-3.39.e15_8 ...BUT -- I don't get any problems when backing up to a networked WinXP machine. Hmmm... SAMBA!!!! (shakes fist at sky) I'll see what a samba upgrade would...

Thanks Barry. EnabledLinkedConnections was already set -- presumably on your advice earlier. Even through the night and this morning the behavior is not consistent which is odd... only for a short while did I get the popup with the blue dotted circle AISbackup shows while processing. It no longer po...

okay -- I'm making progress... it seems when I mess around in the registry area with shell commands, it definitely changes AISBackup behavior.

Maybe you can tell me exactly what registry key it is using and what it should read?

Meanwhile I'll continue my testing. I think I got it on the run.

Hmm, those aren't encouraging questions :( I was hoping you would say something like, "Oh, I know that one, just click on this box...". It predominately gets stuck on "Attempting to wake: \\harrier:". I don't think its a sleep thing -- I can bring up a file on \\harrier, write to...

backup over network shares (samba)

I'm still having trouble backing up to the networked drives... behavior isn't consistent. If I reset the backup, it will work for a while -- but starts failing again later. I'd like to resolve this once and for all, or abandon AISBbackup -- I've been monkeying with it for months now... *I note that ...

I'll try that ... but maybe you are being overly polite to microsoft -- I'll disable / block undo just about anything (and rue that I can't go back to WinXP -- or better yet, Win NT!) -- so what's this VSS, and can I take it out back and shoot it? Truecrypt sounds worse... I'll do some googling, but...

1008: An aatempt was made to reference a token that does not

Getting this popup on running a backup job: ASIBAckup Open File Support for 64-bit Windows 1008: An aatempt was made to reference a token that does not exist. This occurs with an AISBACkUP popup (blue window): saying AISBACKUP:Please Wait Preparing to backup open exclusive files on c:\ Across the to...

that did it!

I did a reset, and then unchecked the NTFS settings.

Thanks Barry -- add "great support" to why AISBackup is the best archival tool ever.

Thanks, Barry. I'm trying some of those solutions...

Meanwhile, it may be informative to point out that the box to disable the NTFS security settings is greyed out for me (and checked).

Does that mean anything?

Netowrk Drive (Samba Share)

This *used* to work... but after reinstalling OS, I'm having trouble: When backing up... For each file I get an ERROR 50: Failed to backup network file: Check Access Rights or the file was Opened Exclusively: \\storm\scholl\blah-blahfilename [Error 50: The reqeust is not supported ] That drive \\sto...

Naming the DVD's

Where can I change the naming scheme of an existing backup job. I am currently using R01, R02... etc... but what if I want to change that to S01, S02, or better yet something more elaborate where the name actually means something.

Thanks!

Ah of course! That did it! To confirm for others, I wiped out the existing job -- and then when I restore the job from the old CD, AISBACKUP now recognize the "Backup to" as an AISBACKUP mastered Disc. Thanks Barry -- awesome tool. Awesome support. We'll continue to plug it in our publicat...

Backup to: Disc with Unknown

I seem to have corrupted my AISBackup settings. I upgraded to 2.4 -- and also unwittingly deleted the backup folder including the .bdb file. I have used 2.3 in the past sucessfully many times. And have an old disk with a .bdb file to use so that my settings are not lost. However, I cannot seem to ru...
